The Great Wall and Ming Tombs

The Ming Tombs are a group of mausoleums of 13 Ming Emperors. The underground burial chamber of Ming Emperor Wanli is open to the public since the excavation in 1956.

The Great Wall of China is an ancient Chinese fortification built by different kingdoms to protect China from raids by the Mongols and Turkic tribes.  

Tian'anmen Square, Forbidden City and Temple of Heaven

The Tian'anmen Square is the biggest city square and it is the heart of modern Beijing. Tiananmen (Gate of Heavenly Peace) was initially built in 1420 during Emperor Yongle's reign in the Ming Dynasty.

The Forbidden City is the best preserved imperial palace in the world and was the political center of China for nearly 500 years.

The Temple of Heaven was the place where the emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties worshipped heaven and prayed for good harvest.
